Yep, it’s been a year since we published the MM Masterpiece Book and it’s still
going stronger than ever!!! That proves it’s a TOOL-don’t be caught without it!!!
Books come and go, but a sketch book can be used for years to come. You’ll never be
disappointed when looking for inspiration in the Masterpiece Idea Book for 3 reasons:

#2 it has awesome creative ideas, and
#3 it’s the most versatile tool in the scrapbooking world today!
The books contains 200+ layouts and 60 sketches, but once you learn the “art of
sketches,” the ideas are endless (as you’ll learn in the Masterpiece classes this semester).
What is a sketch? A sketch is the basic design of a layout. It’s the bare bones of a layout without
paper, words and embellishments, but what’s cool is the shading that shows you where to repeat
certain pattern papers & how many to use.
How do I know which sketch to use? Determine how many photos you want to use on your layout
and then look for the numbers on the upper right corners that coordinate with the # of photos. If
you still don’t find the perfect sketch, flip to the back of the book for a sampling of all sketches
used throughout the book as you may be looking for a certain title shape, etc. Also take a look at
the layouts featured with the sketch as an added bonus-you will see 4
different layouts, one to match anyone’s style. Don’t get hung up on
the layouts though; my layout on p. 3 may be Homecoming, but use
it for a BBQ page or whatever your title may be.
How do I use a sketch? You can scraplift the sketch exactly, or
you can twist, turn, flip and manipulate the sketch to your needs or
the orientation of your photos. You can insert photos in the spot of
embellishments or vice versa. Eventually you will be twisting, turning
our sketches to come up with sketches of your own. You can also use
the sketch for a layout of a card, mini album page, etc.
The secret to getting layouts completed in no time is to have a plan
before you start, and MM Masterpieces does that for you! Tune in

Preparation is the key, and with a little planning, you’ll be designing
layouts in MINUTES not hours!!!

used one last night to create a layout. I think that all too often, our
pages look so much the same. But my layout from your sketch has a different
look -- I love it!! Also, all the examples are wonderful. You have such
talented contributors (including yourself!!). It is fun not only to
examine the pages in terms of the sketches and layouts, but to notice all
the neat details that we can "lift" for embellishments.
My copy will not be
on my bookshelf, but rather it has its own place directly on my scrapping
table! It is a tremendous achievement, and I wish you the greatest success.
