I’m not sure about you, but when I look back at my photos BEFORE scrapbooking, they rarely tell the whole story. That’s my favorite thing that I have learned about scrapbooking, creating pages inspires me to take photos differently & to be sure i can tell the whole story. Lately i just love the “backstage” photos-what’s going on before the big moment or what others are doing when the star of the show is doing their thing. I read these tips from a recent email from Kadair’s & thought i would share on this appropriate day today.!!
- Setting: Shoot wide shots to include the school, field, decoration details & the welcome message to grads.
- BEFORE: Take advantage of the time before the event when you’re waiting around. Get the formal shots of grad with siblings, parents & grandparents & other family. Things get kinda crazy after grad and before party.
- Candids: Snap photos of the grad visiting with other grads, receiving congrats from teachers and other grads, special long term friendships; Capture the special sentiments, excited smiles & big hugs.
- Focus on grads walking in and taking their seats.
- wide shots of the whole gathering, the entire class & the family gathered to watch
- close-up shots of grad watching the event-look for emotional responses & moments of laughter or whispering to other grads
- action shots of grads coming up to receive diplomas
- anticipate the cap toss so you get the full effect- take a close up of their cap before event & use as embellishment on scrapbook layout;
- Capture the emotional celebrations & tearful goodbyes.
- after event & more formal pics
Happy Graduation & Prayers for a Safe, Fun Night!!
